Highlights

1- P(DMAEMA-co-AMPS)/Laponite nanocomposite hydrogels and cryogels are synthesized via in situ free radical polymerization

2- Oscillating swelling behavior as well as swelling-deswelling kinetics were studied.

3- Equilibrium and dynamic swelling properties were investigated to reveal the pH sensitivity of P(DMAEMA-co-AMPS)/Laponite nanocomposite gels

4- Nanocomposite cryogels exhibit higher elastic modulus than the corresponding NC hydrogels
